Sophie Reeves
Sophie has received her Master’s in Public Health at Cuttington University with an emphasis on community health. She has been a nurse since 2004, and has worked as a medical-surgical nurse for at Doctors Without Borders’ Mamba Point Hospital as well as in HIV counseling and testing.
HIV education in VOA
Sophie has partnered with Christ the King High School to train teenagers to as peer educators in HIV prevention. Her first class of peer educators, recruited in 2013, saw its last member graduate from Christ the Church in June 2016. Peer educators conduct in-school trainings, provide community-based education to local teenagers, and distribute condoms. Sophie also acts as a school nurse to the students of this school, providing first aid with support from NFA.
